CASTRO LUGO, David; RODRIGUEZ PEREZ, Reyna Elizabeth  and  ZAMBRANO GUAJARDO, Alejandra. Working poverty in women-headed households in Mexico. Evolution and determining factors. Rev. econ. [online]. 2023, vol.40, n.101, pp.30-58.  Epub Jan 29, 2024. ISSN 2395-8715.  https://doi.org/10.33937/reveco.2023.354.

This paper aims to determinate the condition of working poverty in households with female headship, evolution, and presence of feminization of poverty in Mexico. The source of information is the National Survey of Occupation and Employment (ENOE) 2005-2017. The results indicate that, during the period of analysis, the condition of poverty in female-headed households increased, but we cannot speak of feminization of poverty. The variables that increase the probability of poverty are the number of dependents and the united civil status, while higher educational level decreases their probability.

Keywords : labor poverty; gender; female household headship; econometric model; microdata; Mexico; I32; J16; C25.
