Abstract
FLORES-CORDOVA, Maria Antonia; SANCHEZ-CHAVEZ, Esteban; BALANDRAN-VALLADARES, Martha Irma and MARQUEZ-QUIROZ, César. Effectiveness of treatments in pre-germ dormancy breakdown in feed and weed seeds. Ecosistemas y recur. agropecuarios [online]. 2016, vol.3, n.9, pp.427-432. ISSN 2007-901X.
The aim of this study was to evaluate different methods for breaking dormancy in forage ryegrass seeds (Lolium multiflorum, Bouteloua garcillis and Pennisetum purpureum) and weed seeds of (Arundo donaz, Sorghum halepense, and Amaranthus hybridus L. The seeds were collected in southwest the city of Chihuahua, Mexico, which underwent a 10 pregerminative: H2SO4 dives to 5, 10 and 90 %, immersion in boiling water, immersion in distilled water at room temperature environment, exposure to temperatures of 8 °C, exposure to temperature of 35 °C, 28 °C darkness, exposure to sunlight and UV light. The statistical results indicate that the best treatments were the exposure of UV light and dark, with a significant (<0.0001) and a germination rate of 100 % in L. multiflorum and 70 % in B. garcillis.
