Abstract
CASTANEDA, Beatriz et al. Body temperature, thermometers and health. Epistemus (Sonora) [online]. 2021, vol.15, n.30, pp.53-57. Epub June 26, 2023. ISSN 2007-8196. https://doi.org/10.36790/epistemus.v15i30.164.
Temperature measurement has always been one of the challenges of medicine since many diseases have as their initial sign an increase or decrease in temperature, either in the whole body or in very localized regions. Such conditions include infections, metabolic disorders, cardiovascular disorders, inflammation, and cancer. Thus, the ease of use and accuracy of thermometers for rapid temperature measurement is crucial. Unfortunately, their technological development has been slow. However, in the last three decades, they have incorporated technologies that allow obtaining non-contact readings with high accuracy, although the development of computational tools to understand the thermal expression of pathological processes is still pending.
