Abstract

MANTILLA, Jorge  and  HERNANDEZ CHACON, Ledys. Tutsá: space, identity and emotions related to the origin of the Chachi nationality, Ecuador. Cultura representaciones soc [online]. 2019, vol.14, n.27, pp.379-410.  Epub Jan 20, 2021. ISSN 2007-8110.  https://doi.org/10.28965/2019-27-12.

The present work is the result of the transdisciplinary combination of anthropology and psychology based on the Epistemologies of the South and the methodological approach of Participatory Action Research (investigación-acción participativa, IAP). The main objective is to provide an interpretive understanding of the myth of origin of the Chachi community from the discursive analysis, with an explanatory sense about the symbolic signifiers. The analysis includes historical and cultural factors for which different concepts and approaches of both psychology and anthropology are used, and a theoretical transversality that covers the methodological scope. The conclusions refer to the transdisciplinary articulation as a posture through which causal relationships are explained around the myth of origin and the historical processes experienced by the Chachi people.

Keywords : chachi nationality; cultural identity; indigenous people; indigenous migration; syncretism; colonization; transdisciplinary.
