Abstract
FIGUEROA DIAZ, María Elena. Representación social de la migración en Ayoquezco, Oaxaca. Cultura representaciones soc [online]. 2011, vol.6, n.11, pp.133-158. ISSN 2007-8110.
This work explores the social representation of migration experienced by a group of Oaxacan peasants, that since 1999 hold a productive rural enterprise with the foremost intention of stopping migration in their community. The subjective analysis of migration observed in terms of social representations, has a definite influence on the vision and/or identity that female and male partners have of themselves, of others, of the deprivation they experience in their lives as well as the expectations of success in their productive enterprise. It was detected that the structure of social representation of migration spins around three main axis in this group of people: 1) the risk of the physical body and life itself; 2) the obligatory cultural sense of having to produce money for the family; 3) the idealized past; the idealized village.
Keywords : migration; social representation; being a provider; physical risk; territorial attachment.
