The present work aimed to analyze the relationship between academic stress and social support in university students, and to identify the explanatory power of the dimensions of social support on the academic stress of the respondents. The research was developed under a quantitative approach with an observational, cross-sectional and correlational-explanatory design. The results confirmed low stress levels and a negative correlation with social support and its dimensions. Additionally, two multiple linear regression analyzes (by sex) were performed. In the case of men, the model was made up of family support, while that of women was made up of family and friends support, both with a low explanatory level.
Keywords : academic stress; social support; college students; family support; support from friends.
