Abstract
CASTANEDA GUILLOT, Carlos and GONZALEZ SALAS, Raúl. Anthropometric research of the children population from 5 to 14 years old of Salasaca indigenous ethnic group of the Ecuadorian Andean mountain range. An anthropometric research was carried out on children from 5 to 14 years old of the Salasaca indigenous people of Kichua nationality who live in the province of Tungurahua. A sample of 546 children (265 males and 281 females), equivalent to 45.9% of the total population of children of that age, was measured for weight, height, body mass index (BMI), arm and abdominal circumference, and body fat composition. Normality tests for BMI showed variables with normal distribution in children. The research shows a predominance of good nutritional status and emphasizes the transcendence of this research due to its social repercussion in the indigenous ethnic group of the Ecuadorian Andean Cordillera.
