Abstract

ROCHA NIETO, Lilia Mercedes; OVALLE-ZULETA, María Alejandra  and  MENESES-BAEZ, Alba Lucía. Scale to measure adherence to treatment in cardiovascular patients: content validity. Horiz. sanitario [online]. 2021, vol.20, n.2, pp.159-167.  Epub Aug 30, 2021. ISSN 2007-7459.  https://doi.org/10.19136/hs.a20n2.3747.

Objective:

To design and obtain content validity evidence for an instrument to measure treatment adherence of patients with cardiovascular disease (CVD).

Material and methods:

The instrument is based on the self- regulation concept and its structure has five factors: self-observation and self-monitoring, self-response, self-evaluation, self-efficacy and self-control. Content validation was conducted with 10 judges and 10 patients with CVD. Three indexes were calculated: Interrater Agreement Index, Content Validity Index, and Factorial Validity Index.

Results:

In general, the findings indicated excellent, very good and good indexes, in the factors, according to the criteria used by the evaluators: representativity, importance, and clarity criteria.

Conclusions:

The Scale to measure Adherence to Treatment in People with Cardiovascular Diseases was constructed and evidence of content validity and an approximation to construct validity was obtained, with which, there is a structured and coherent instrument based on the theory of self-regulation.
