VELASCO GUTIERREZ, Georgina; HERNANDEZ GUTIERREZ, Laura Silvia  and  DANIEL GUERRERO, Alba Brenda. Interprofessional clinical simulation scenario on mixed delirium in undergraduate medicine and physiotherapy. Investigación educ. médica [online]. 2021, vol.10, n.40, pp.29-36.  Epub Feb 21, 2022. Introduction:

Interprofessional education based on clinical simulation promotes the development of attitudes, knowledge and skills for the collaborative practice of health professionals.

Objetive:

The purpose was to design a simulation scenario on mixed delirium in a hospitalized geriatric patient to evaluate the interprofessional work of undergraduate physicians and physiotherapists.

Method:

Quantitative, cross-sectional, observational and descriptive study, n=20 medical and physiotherapy students. The content of the simulation scenario was designed and validated, applied and evaluated with two checklists, one for clinical skills and the other for interprofessionalism. The mean, median, mode, standard error, standard deviation and percentage were calculated.

Results:

The 16% carried out the interrogation jointly, 7% reported the diagnosis of delirium, 11% carried out the explanation of behavioral and environmental measures and 10% understood the role in the care of patients with mixed delirium.

Conclusions:

The little collaboration obtained requires the promotion of the interprofessional relationship between medicine and physiotherapy, for the benefit of the patient, it is an opportunity in research and interprofessional education programs.
