This article sets out to describe how Aarón Urbina Bedolla, the leader of a clientelar network in Tecámac, State of Mexico, has operated politically over the past 20 years to maintain power and place members of his political group in different, strategic, municipal, state and federal political spaces. Empirical research for the paper was carried out in this municipality through 25 semi-structured interviews held with various individuals who contributed information on Urbina’s personal life and career, and his methods of political maneuvering, complemented by an intensive review of newspaper reports that helped to broaden and deepen the scope of the project.
