Abstract

BRAVO ANDUAGA, Joel Ángel. Una nueva perspectiva del estudio del escenario mundial: geopolítica y relaciones internacionales desde una epistemología de la imaginación. Intersticios sociales [online]. 2014, n.8, pp.1-27. ISSN 2007-4964.

In order to enrich the epistemological discussion (subject-object relationship), within international relations, elements for the reaffirmation of geopolitics as an object of knowledge and the creation of a new object of study in the international arena are presented: the psychosocial spaces. The epistemological proposal within this paper is designed by the name of epistemology of imagination, which re-enrich the Genetic Epistemology elaborated by Jean Piaget. The epistemology of imagination seeks to imagine both, that which is nonexistent and that which is unheard, where it seems unlikely or impossible, it may be shaped in something feasible. One of the new possible realities would be the configuration of a methodological change for the theoretical conceptualization of international relations in the current context, for which the theoretical foundation would be the already mentioned epistemology of imagination. Similarly, it is intended to highlight geopolitics as a fundamental element to consolidate international relations and structure its interdisciplinary essence from what we call an intersubdisciplinary relationship. For its part, the characterization of the psychosocial spaces can extend the range of objects of study for international relations, this due to the study of power relations among micro and macro groups present worldwide.

Keywords : geopolitics; epistemology of the imagination; genetic epistemology; psycho-social spaces; international relations.
