Abstract

MONTANO SALAZAR, Rodolfo; VIEYRA MEDRANO, Antonio  and  RODRIGUEZ RODRIGUEZ, Jesús. Transformación hacia una estructura urbana difusa por cambios en los sectores industrial y laboral en la Zona Metropolitana de Guadalajara. Intersticios sociales [online]. 2013, n.5, pp.1-30. ISSN 2007-4964.

This article attempts to analyze the main productive restructuring process generated by the industrial activity sub-sector in the city of Guadalajara and its metropolitan area, and to characterize some urban manufacturing employment variables and how these activities have resulted in urban development contours increasingly away from the nuclear city and settled on the main road system. Under this view, the most important aspects of the restructuring process of the production and transformation of urban space are recognized, which contributes to the conception of the idea of a "Sprawling City", status in which we think Guadalajara city is because of its expansion beyond its politics boundaries in which great manufacturer areas and population settlements are conformed, based and connected through the regional road infrastructure.

Keywords : Guadalajara Metropolitan Area; Industrial Structure; Spatial Restructuring; "Sprawling City".
