Abstract
NUNEZ-CASTILLO, S. M.; ALVAREZ-MOCTEZUMA, J. G.; ZAVALA-CHAVEZT, F. and ESPINOSA-ROBLES, P.. Meiotic morphology and behavior in Quercus glabrescens x Q. rugosa (Fagaceae) natural hybrid. Rev. Chapingo ser. cienc. for. ambient [online]. 2010, vol.16, n.2, pp.171-177. ISSN 2007-4018. https://doi.org/10.5154/r.rchscfa.2009.10.036.
Quercus glabrescens Benth. xQ. rugosa Née. Putative hybrid was studied through a morphology hybridization index and meiotic behavior. Ten morphological characters of leaf and bark were evaluated in 50 individuals (supposed hybrid trees). Inflorescences were collected and the squash technique was applied to study meiotic behavior. Hybrid trees were detected with tendency to Q. glabrescens and intermediate hybrids. Chromosomal aberrations were detected in the hybrids, such as bridges, fragments and chromosomal rings in anaphase I and II and telophase I, appearing in a frequency close to one in the intermediate hybrids.
