Due to the excessive use of chemical molecules in the control of diseases that cause ecological imbalances, effects on human health and environment damage, the implementation of biological control strategies for the management of phytosanitary problems is a sustainable option. In order to generate alternatives that contribute to the sustainable management of crops in Nayarit, Mexico, antagonistic bacteria collected from the rhizosphere of the Hass avocado agroecosystem (January to December 2014) were isolated. We obtained 10 bacterial isolates, four belonging to B. subtilis, four to B. amyloliquefaciens, one to Bacillus sp. and one identified as Burkholderia cepacia. The percentage of inhibition of radial growth (PIRG) of these isolates was estimated when confronted in vitro against Phytophthora cinnamomi, Fusarium oxysporum and Colletotrichum sp. which are of economic importance in Mexico. The PIRG of the bacterial isolates on P. cinnamomi ranged from 42.25 to 70.24 %, 33.2 to 56.33 % for F. oxysporum and 35 to 64.43 % for Colletotrichum sp. The results showed the potential of the bacteria evaluated on P. cinnamomi, F. oxysporum, and Colletotrichum sp.
