Abstract

ZERMENO-FLORES, Ana-Isabel. Human abilities of young university students: validation of a specific list of abilities. Rev. iberoam. educ. super [online]. 2023, vol.14, n.40, pp.116-132.  Epub Mar 11, 2024. ISSN 2007-2872.  https://doi.org/10.22201/iisue.20072872e.2023.40.1548.

Based on Sen’s human development approach, the authors propose to understand the quality of life of young university students by constructing a specific list of abilities. A three-step methodology is applied: first, building an archetypal list through consolidated lists; then, carrying out empirical research to include the insiders’ point of view; and finally, validating the list by means of a Delphi test. As a result, we obtained a specific list of abilities with 11 dimensions, whose value is its validity, reproducibility, and potential to provide feedback for studies and public policy in the field of development.

Keywords : human development; abilities; quality of life; validity; public universities; Mexico.
