Abstract

MENDEZ RAMIREZ, Oswaldo. Neoliberalism and equity: Chilean society analyzed from the students perspective. Rev. iberoam. educ. super [online]. 2013, vol.4, n.11, pp.3-25. ISSN 2007-2872.

This article explores the concepts "neoliberalism" and "equity" as defined by the students of the University of Chile. The qualitative study facilitated access to the construction of concepts and definition processes of the individuals using the natural semantic network technique. The sample included a total of 70 students. In conclusion they consider neoliberalism an economic system, which based on capitalism, is characterized by inequality, competition, injustice and individualism and its effects become evident in poverty. Whereas equity is a right based on distribution, characterized by equality, opportunities and justice focused on society and becomes evident in development.
