Abstract

ESQUIVEL-LARRONDO, Juan-Eduardo. Applicants to universities in Chile: Social-educational vicissitudes. Rev. iberoam. educ. super [online]. 2011, vol.2, n.5, pp.52-80. ISSN 2007-2872.

The text treats in particular with the social-educational conditions of college graduates (secondary and higher level education or baccalaureate (bachillerato) who aspire to obtain a university degree in a world in which in only a few years the private sector has commercialized the sector, i.e. from a trend of the private sector to establish paid educational institutions with a specific social profile towards the latters inclusion in the organizations in order to obtain profits, and the supporters usually assume parameters that match the Washington consensus (1990), exacerbating social-educational differences.
