One of the lines of research of the Nucleus on Research and Development on Education of the Polytechnic Institute of Leira (Núcleo de Investigación y Desarrollo de Educación del Instituto Politécnico de Leira, IPL) has tried to identify the factors of academic success or failure and the degree of satisfaction of students upon graduation from the five faculties of the IPL, in order to try to understand existing relations among the dimensions of this two objects of study (constructs). The purpose of this paper is to reflect on the implications derived from the factors of success and failure of higher education students. Likewise, this document shares some strategies for the prevention of failure and the fostering of academic success used in the higher education context.
