Abstract

KARSENTI, Thierry  and  LIRA-GONZALES, María-Lourdes. The importance of motivation and computer skills of future teachers using ICT. Rev. iberoam. educ. super [online]. 2011, vol.2, n.3, pp.116-129. ISSN 2007-2872.

The purpose of this study focuses on understanding the impact of attitudes and technological skills of education students in the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) during their pre-professional practices. A total of 9 000 education students participated in this comparative study on the different aspects of using ICT in education programs in Belgium, Canada (Province of Quebec) and Greece. The statistical analyses to assess the impact of attitudes and skills reveal a positive inclination towards the use of ICT during their practices. The results, from a large-scale study, contributed important information for teacher educators, school directors and education policymakers; furthermore, they also underline gender related aspects of technology skills.

Keywords : ICT; attitudes; skills; future; technological; future teachers; practice.
