Abstract

GIDI, Claudia. Perverse histories on farcical fables. Valenciana [online]. 2022, vol.15, n.30, pp.283-309.  Epub Sep 29, 2022. ISSN 2007-2538.  https://doi.org/10.15174/rv.v15i30.666.

In this essay I propose to study how Óscar Liera, in his dramatic text Las fábulas perversas, makes use of the resources of farce to construct a deeply critical vision of a relevant episode in the Mexican history. The playwright recreates the figure of Fray Servando Teresa de Mier and turns him, through the tones of laughter, into a reference and a symbol of freedom, who opposes the abuses of power while unmasking his perverse fables.

Keywords : Farcical; Mexican theater; Óscar Liera; Adventure drama; Perverse fables.
