Abstract
LAMELA ORCASITAS, Javier; ABASOLO NICOLAS, Ana and PADIAL MOLINA, Juan Francisco. Of How to Systematize Information in a Design Process: The Accompaniment in the Gran Vía Madrileña, Spain. Intervención (Méx. DF) [online]. 2016, vol.7, n.13, pp.5-21. ISSN 2007-249X.
Designing a city involves processing a complex system of information. Based on our experience, we propose a nonlinear way of design: our multi-layered approach allows us to fulfil the task of grasping and managing data from many sources. Thus, this ESSAY focuses on providing an alternative way of classifying, quantifying and surveying information by means of a holographic process in order to reduce expenses. Taking the Gran Vía Madrileña (GVM, Spain) as a case study, we reframe the discussion about how to organize the multiple records that are involved in the intervention of a consolidated urban fabric in order to fulfil three aims: firstly, to highlight the profound link between context and design; secondly, to present a pilot study that serves to evaluate the gathered data through parameters, and thirdly, to encourage other authors to reopen the discussion of the designing process in an urban environment.
