Abstract

DOMINGUEZ, Judith. Historical Review of Drought in Mexico: From the Divine Explanation to the Incorporation of Science. Tecnol. cienc. agua [online]. 2016, vol.7, n.5, pp.77-93. ISSN 2007-2422.

The article presents the different conceptualizations and concerns about drought from an historical, documentary and hemerographic review. From a social perspective drought it is of interest for the socio-economic consequences it produces and the effects on the population. At different times it tells how affected agricultural production, the main activity of past centuries. Today, besides the effects on the population they have been exacerbated. The generation of information and knowledge has become central to the explanation of droughts and the establishment of a proactive policy to monitor its effects and preventive intent, which is revealed in the Mexican government, is the construction of data and generation scenarios knowledge for better decision making about droughts.
