The aim of this paper is to analyze the role played by a civil society organization in the process of extending civil rights in Nuevo Leon. The case chosen to analyze is Litiga, a project promoted by a civil society organization, Gender, Ethics and Sexual Health, A.C. (GESS, A.C.), in order to generate a change in the Civil Code of Nuevo Leon, to allow the same-sex marriage in the entity.
