Abstract

CUEVAS ALBARRAN, Valeria Betzabé; MOO XIX, Francisco Javier  and  SAURI PALMA, Maricela. Social perception of the implementation of a project of cultural tourism in the community of Sacalaca. El periplo sustentable [online]. 2016, n.30, pp.206-224. ISSN 1870-9036.

The development of economic activity in most rural communities in Quintana Roo is conditioned by the characteristics of the surrounding environment as well as the limited infrastructure available. Introducing pristine features that allow the use of cultural tourism, an assessment was developed to determine the perception of the communities surrounding Sacalaca, Quintana Roo, order to identify interest in adopting this strategy of sustainable business. The process consisted of closed questionnaires to nine neighboring communities, which identified as positive the perception of this activity as a source of employment and income generation.

Keywords : Tourism; culture; development; perception; sustainable.
