In the following article, I intend to reconstruct some aspects of the place utopia has occupied in the Marxist thought tradition. Focusing on two moments -the original formulations of Marx and Engels, and the consequent reappropriation of them by famous Marxist philosophers of the twentieth century- I intend to trace the ambivalent place that has taken the interpretation of utopia in some of the most famous contributions of Marxist thought.
