Abstract

CARMONA GALLEGO, Diego. The Resignification of the Concept of Care from the Feminisms of the 60’s and 70’s. En-clav. pen [online]. 2019, vol.13, n.25, pp.104-127. ISSN 2594-1100.

This article addresses the notion of care from its visibility in the debates promoted by feminisms in the 1960’s and 1970’s. Initially we refer to care in Marxist and socialist feminisms, where the term domestic work was coined. Next, we recover the relational dimension of care from the experiences of the self-consciousness groups promoted by American radical feminism. Finally, we focus on the debates about emancipation in liberal feminism, as well as the intersectionality of class-race-gender to think about the different types of oppression and their relations with black American feminism. We conclude by affirming the need to conceptualize care from a complex perspective, in relation to interdependence and vulnerability.

Keywords : care; feminisms; intersectionality; vulnerability; interdependence.
