Abstract

GONZALEZ, Roberto Andrés. Notes for a Philosophy of Mind from Ernst Cassirer. En-clav. pen [online]. 2015, vol.9, n.18, pp.55-78. ISSN 2594-1100.

In the present article we intend to elucidate the problem of union of body and soul through the lens of Ernst Cassirer. The author's approach has two stages: the criticism of the metaphysical tradition, which has engaged in an aporia to address the problem either causally or substantially. Secondly, the approach of the author is, as it were, sheltered by concerns about the origin of knowledge. The union between body and soul is not causal, but rather a strictly symbolic relationship, it can be seen in everyday expressive functions.

Keywords : Man; body; soul; knowledge; expression.
