Abstract

REDING BLASE, Sofía. Cristóbal Colón y el Caribe: oro y desnudez. En-clav. pen [online]. 2012, vol.6, n.11, pp.27-44. ISSN 2594-1100.

The first voyage of Columbus, although different from the original purposes, marks the beginning of modernity. This text is aware of the peculiar character of who is said to have discovered America, considering him as a transient between Middle Ages and Renaissance. It also shows the figure of Vespucci and his Renaissance personality. The two sailors had visions of our continent, which will be the key to understand the discourse on the Savage, both in its pessimistic and optimistic version.

Keywords : Discovery; invention; Savage; Latin American thought.
