RAMOS, Bertha; FIGUEROA, Carlos; ALCOCER, Luis and RICON, Santiago. Validación del cuestionario de calidad de vida relacionada con la salud en pacientes con insuficiencia cardiaca. En-clav. pen [online]. 2011, vol.5, n.10, pp.173-189. ISSN 2594-1100.
Objective. Validate the Spanish adaptation of the Kansas City cardiomyopathy questionnaire to measure the health related quality of life in mexican hospitalized patients with heart failure. Method. 203 hospitalized heart failure patients of the Cardiology Service of the General Hospital of Mexico participated in this study. The Kansas City cardiomyopathy questionnaire to measure the health related quality of life was adapted into Spanish version; the NYHA functional classifcation was used to determine the instrument’s sensitivity with respect to heart failure symptoms. Results. We obtained an internal consistency similar to the original version in each of the domains: physical limitations (α = 0.84), symptoms (α = 0.84), social interference (α = 0.84). Conclusions. The results showed that this is a reliable instrument to measure quality of life in patients with heart failure for Mexican population. This questionnaire adequately discriminate the change in the severity of symptoms on quality of life.
