Abstract

This article suggests that there is a link between Hannah Arendt's concept of freedom, understood as a "being able to do "or" agency" and the capabilities approach developed by Amartya Sen and Martha C. Nussbaum. Its purpose is to highlight the social and political dimension of personal freedom, over and against more common conceptions that present an individualistic and specific nature.
