Abstract

GARCIA DAVALOS, Luis Arturo. La reinvención de la historia o las condiciones, posibilidades y método de una historia enraizada en una filosofía: Edmundo O'Gorman por José Gaos. En-clav. pen [online]. 2007, vol.1, n.2, pp.97-115. ISSN 2594-1100.

This work presents a systematization regarding the origins, development and content of the historiographical method developed by Dr Edmund O'Gorman. It presents the vital context given by the friendship O'Gorman shared with his teacher, Dr. José Gaos, an important and universal thinker of Spanish origin who was exiled in Mexico. Each thinker exerted an imporant influence in the work of the other. Using the work of Gorman and Goas, this work proposes the conditions for the possibility to develop a History in concordance with our times: free of material, moral, technical, and spiritual reductionism. At the same time, the attempt is made to develop a History that is loyal to its sources, that is a recreation and new word for our times, in agreement with Goas, wherein we are passing from an idea of world to a world without ideas. Finally it is an invitation to revisit these authors, that far from having lost their importance, allow us to recover from the fragmented context within which we exist.

Keywords : Philosophy; history (as science); history of ideas; history (as vital context); historian.
