Abstract
ORTEGA-SOLIS, Lidiana Esther; ROSALES HUERTA, Uki; FIGUEROA-ESQUIVEL, Elsa Margarita and PUEBLA-OLIVARES, Fernando. First nesting record of Collared Plover (Charadrius collaris) at Marismas Nacionales Biosphere Reserve, Nayarit. Huitzil [online]. 2017, vol.18, n.1, pp.1-6. ISSN 1870-7459.
Collared Plover (Charadrius collaris) have a distribution in both slopes from Mexico, and eastern from Central America to central Argentina. However, the breeding biology information of this species is scarce. The information that exists on reproduction in Nayarit dates from a record of a nest in the municipality of San Blas in November, 1980. Here we described a nest with two eggs recorded on April 19, 2015 in the lagoon Las Garzas-Chahuin Chihua at Marismas Nacionales Biosphere Reserve. On April 26 we captured a male in the nest. For this part of Nayarit there is no previous records of nests of this species, therefore we report the first record of nesting of collared plover in this area.
