I give information on five species of birds recorded in the lower basin of the Rio Verde, Oaxaca, near Lagunas de Chacahua National Park. For Hylocichla mustelina this is the first record in the coastal plain of southwestern Oaxaca. Records of Falco femoralis, Aramus guarauna, and Peucaea humeralis increase our knowledge on the distributions of these species in this part of Oaxaca, while the record of Aramides axillaris is only the second for the state.
