Abstract

The objective of this study was to find out the most common ENT clinical manifestations in patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection seen in the emergency department of the Angeles Lindavista Hospital in Mexico City between January 1, 2020, and February 28, 2021. 30 patients of both genders were selected, 17 men (56.7%) and 13 women (43.3%), aged between 1 and 88 years (mean 53.5), with a positive PCR test for SARS-CoV-2. The most frequent symptoms found at the moment of the study were hacking cough in 19 patients (63%), pharyngodynia in 15 patients (50%), runny nose in 5 patients (16.6%), productive cough in 2 patients (6.6%), dysgeusia in 2 (6.6%), hyposmia in 1 patient (3.3%), anosmia in 1 patient (3.3%), earache in 1 (3.3%), dysphonia in 1 (3.3%), and xerostomia in 1 patient (3.3%). The main systemic sign observed was fever (equal to or greater than 38 oC) in 50% of the cases.
