Abstract

DOMINGUEZ CARRILLO, Luis Gerardo et al. Magnetic resonance in inguinal pain due to muscle injuries. Acta méd. Grupo Ángeles [online]. 2018, vol.16, n.4, pp.343-348.  Epub Oct 02, 2020. ISSN 1870-7203.

Introduction:

The presence of inguinal pain is a diagnostic challenge due to the number of related articular and periarticular anatomical structures, in addition, the manifestation of inguinal pain caused by affection of elements distant from the coxofemoral joint such as the spine and knee, increase the possibilities of differential diagnosis, on the other hand, despite the fact that the interrogation and the complete exploration guide the diagnosis, currently the support of imaging studies, especially magnetic resonance imaging, is essential to make accurate diagnoses, including problems that are not suspected due to their low frequency. As proof of this, three different muscular lesions are presented whose main symptomatology was inguinal pain.

Clinical cases:

Three cases are presented, the first with crural square muscle injury, the second with psoas lesion and the third with femoris rectus injury.

Conclusion:

Magnetic resonance imaging is an essential study for the diagnosis of certainty in muscle injuries that cause inguinal pain.

Keywords : Hip pain; muscle injuries.
