Abstract

FLORES VARGAS, Xóchitl  and  COLLAZO REYES, Francisco. Geographic diversification of scientific practices and strengthening in local technical scientific capacities in Mexico, 1980-2013. Tla-melaua [online]. 2017, vol.11, n.43, pp.6-22. ISSN 2594-0716.

This article studies the scientific literature in Mexico, published in journals with coverage in the Web of Science-ISI Web of Knowledge, during the period of its greatest growth in production (1980-2013). The foregoing is in order to identify changes in the historical model of organization, traditionally centralized in research institutions established in Mexico City. The information was organized in three periods and an analysis of each of them was carried out, according to three classification criteria: production by states of the Mexican Republic, by sectors and by research institutions. The results show different dynamics of growth in each period and a process of increasing geographic diversification in the development of scientific practices, which are a sample of increasing capacities to produce scientific knowledge, mainly in universities and state technological institutes.

Keywords : Scientific production; scientific policies; geographical diversification.
