Abstract
MEDELLIN MENDOZA, Sandra E. and RANGEL GONZALEZ, Erick. Efectos de vecindario y crímenes violentos en el área metropolitana de Monterrey. EconoQuantum [online]. 2015, vol.12, n.1, pp.31-55. ISSN 2007-9869.
This study uses a probabilistic discrete choice model to relate individual and local characteristics of the nei.ghborhood with the propensity of violence of the suspects arrested for violent crimes in the Monterrey metropolitan area during 2005 and 2010. Using several sources of information we formed a database where suspected criminals are the unit of analysis. The results show that neighborhood characteristics, such as the average level of schooling and the sporting facilities, reduce the propensity to be violent offender.
