Abstract

VILLANUEVA JORDAN, Iván. "I am a drag queen, Not Just a Crazy Man". Representations of dragqueenism in Lima, Peru. Península [online]. 2017, vol.12, n.2, pp.95-118. ISSN 1870-5766.  https://doi.org/10.1016/j.pnsla.2017.06.005.

This exploratory study is based on the idea that dragqueenism results from representational works by drag queens, through their discursive practices and the way they exhibit themselves to the public. These representations establish an identitarian base and separate the drag queens from other transgender identities. The analysis of data obtained in semi-structured interviews will show how representations are articulated to produce dragqueenism's tradition, poetics and sense of art.

Keywords : drag queen; dragqueenism; transgender; representation.
