This paper centers on the role played by the Church in Yucatan as a guarantor for social stability, particularly regarding the control of the Yucatecan Mayan population during the colonial period, and the transformations provoked by the Bourbon Reform in this mission. The study is structured around the analysis of ecclesiastical intervention in times of crisis, such as rebellions, flights and persecution of idolatry.

Keywords : Church; control; indigenous people; idolatry; rebellions.
