Abstract

HERNANDEZ-FLORES, José Alvaro  and  MARTINEZ-CORONA, Beatriz. Rural territory disputes: pre-hispanic Cholula in face of the expansion of colonial Puebla. agric. soc. desarro [online]. 2011, vol.8, n.2, pp.281-296. ISSN 1870-5472.

This essay exposes the territorial recomposition that suburban municipalities in the Cholula region, in the state of Puebla, México, have suffered as a result of their connection with the state's capital. We start from the conceptualization of the Cholula territory, conceiving it as a space that has been constituted historically. Social relations and domination patterns prevalent in successive historical stages of its development are examined, which finally derived in the current conformation of the territory.

Keywords : conflict; urban growth; social relations and territory.
