Abstract

VALENZUELA ROBLES LINARES, José María. Transboundary hydrocarbon deposits. Between the legal and the diplomatic fact. Anu. Mex. Der. Inter [online]. 2010, vol.10, pp.353-388. ISSN 1870-4654.

Inspired on recent modifications to the mexican legal order regarding the hydrocarbon exploitation, the author presents an analysis about the deposits shared by Mexico and the United States and the probable american position about the rights over them considering the US interests in the Arctic. Also, the author refers to the international obligations attached to the exploitation of natural resources in the Extended Continental Shelf. Further, the study contains the different options that Mexico has to start the coordinated extraction of resources in transboundary areas.
