Abstract

TERAN, Diego. The Determinants of the Return of Mexicans from the United States in Perspective. A New Story?. Rev. pueblos front. digit. [online]. 2023, vol.18, e676.  Epub Dec 08, 2023. ISSN 1870-4115.  https://doi.org/10.22201/cimsur.18704115e.2023.v18.676.

This paper has focused on differences over time and space in terms of the phenomenon of the return of Mexicans from the United States. The trend followed by migratory return to Mexico in the last 30 years in terms of volume is being studied, but we also make a spatial visualization to describe the geography of the phenomenon and the transformations in the migratory pattern as a result of changes in the border between Mexico and the United States. The methodology used is based on survival analysis, which allows us to analyze the factors that influence an individual’s return migration. The results show differences by migratory region, migration time and life course.

Keywords : return migration; migratory regions; migration cycles.
