This article addresses the integration-exclusion of patients with diabetes in the National Mutual Aid Group Strategy in Yucatan State, where a sustained increase of cases of diabetes mellitus type 2 (DM-T2) has been reported. Women present the most negative rates in the institutional reports and, in general, tend to belong to social groups with less economic, development and healthcare resources since the care they receive is deficient and does not correspond to their expectations and cultural specificities. The article includes a critical illustration of both the Health Department’s public policy ruling the Mutual Aid Groups and the institutional actions that the Yucatan Health Department implements in these groups, which are typically not culturally relevant to the Maya-speaking population in small villages.
