Abstract

ARELLANO RIOS, Alberto. El gobierno al interior del municipio mexicano: reflexiones en torno a su diseño institucional. Región y sociedad [online]. 2011, vol.23, n.52, pp.59-90. ISSN 2448-4849.

This article debates and discusses the internal design of the municipal government in Mexico. To do this, the scope and limitations of the institutional design of the Mexican municipality at the end of the first decade of the 21 st century is contextualized and problematized. This is followed by an analysis of some cases of Mexican and international municipalities in which decisions have been decentralized, and where participation and deliberation are fomented on issues of governance and public local matters. This provides an outline for the functioning of municipal meetings, municipal districts, participative budgets and local administration meetings, and illustrates the need to create, analyze or design intra-municipal mechanisms for local government.

Keywords : government; municipality; institutional design; intramunicipal mechanisms.
