Abstract

BRACAMONTE SIERRA, Álvaro; VALLE DESSENS, Norma  and  MENDEZ BARRON, Rosana. La nueva agricultura sonorense: historia reciente de un viejo negocio. Región y sociedad [online]. 2007, vol.19, n.spe, pp.51-70. ISSN 2448-4849.

Sonora's agriculture exhibits a differentiated behavior after a decade of trade liberalization, On the one hand, exports increased along with the surface area planted with vegetables and fruits; and contrary to expectations, basic grains maintained a solid position in the farming pattern. On the other hand, interesting symptoms of transformation are noticeable, such as the emergence of a visible corporate culture among farmers. Under these conditions, Sonora's agricultural sector seems to be ready for the challenges of global competition.

Keywords : agriculture; commercial opening; modernization; agricultural policy; management culture.
