Abstract

GONZALEZ ULLOA AGUIRRE, Pablo Armando. Ciudadanía ante el espacio público: La difícil y necesaria relación para fortalecer a las instituciones. CONfines relacion. internaci. ciencia política [online]. 2015, vol.11, n.21, pp.87-106. ISSN 1870-3569.

The public sphere represents sociability, but also conflict and opportunities of understanding and dissent, hence an inseparable relationship between public space and citizenship it is presented. From this relation we can address how citizens are conceived, how they participate and how they relate. Meanwhile, public spheres are vital to create, modify and develop institutions that can represent the interests of people. However, there are different views about the practice and identity of the citizen, so from liberalism, republicanism and communitarianism, it is necessary to identify the nature of the relationship established with the public sphere.

Keywords : Citizenship; public sphere; political participation; State; globalization; political identity.
