Abstract

This essay describes and analyzes peace research findings published in May this year in the book "To act before darkness falls: Mediations, intermediations and socially based nonviolent diplomacies in the Colombian armed conflict'" Community experiences at the local and national level have highlighted processes and practices, identified by these communities as mediation in their own interpretation of the conflict, as well as their diverse and significant achievements. These experiences offer a novel approach which provides theoretical and practical insights into other dimensions of armed conflict mediation, and show possibilities for the transformation of the conflict, the importance of local and regional scenarios within this transformation, and community powers or peaceful collectives with transformative power drawn from dialogue.
