Abstract

DE LA TORRE, Verónica. La acción colectiva transnacional en las acción colectiva de los movimientos sociales y de las Relaciones Internacionales. CONfines relacion. internaci. ciencia política [online]. 2011, vol.7, n.14, pp.45-72. ISSN 1870-3569.

We stress the importance of transnational social movements in international politics and how this collective action is usually approached from theoretical frameworks traditionally focused on the state. On the one hand, theories of social movements (TSM) that represent a starting point for the study of this phenomenon. On the other, the discipline of International Relations (IR) using the constructivist approach. The work underlines the important contribution of TSM to constructivist scholars who have opened the IR to the knowledge of an important topic for the global society. In the latter part of the work, we use as examples of transnational collective action the Global Justice movement and the Continental Social Alliance.

Keywords : transnational social movements; collective action; social movements theories; International Relations; constructivism; Global Justice Movement; Hemispheric Social Alliance.
