CALVA SANCHEZ, Luis Enrique  and  TORRE CANTALAPIEDRA, Eduardo. Changes and Continuities in Migratory Policy during the First Year of the López Obrador Administration. Norteamérica [online]. 2020, vol.15, n.2, pp.157-181.  Epub Oct 25, 2021. ISSN 2448-7228.  https://doi.org/10.22201/cisan.24487228e.2020.2.415.

The Andrés Manuel López Obrador administration has had to handle the migration through Mexico, including migrant caravans, and deal with Trump administration demands that Mexico prevent them from reaching the United States. The aim of this article is to analyze the changes and continuities in migratory policy during López Obrador’s first year in office through documentary review and the analysis of public administration data. The authors also examine two key aspects of this policy: containing migration and protecting migrants.

Keywords : international migration; migratory policy; migration in transit; bilateral relations.
