Abstract
CUEVA PERUS, Marcos. El "neoliberalismo" norteamericano: una religión (del vacío) utilitarista y marginalista. Norteamérica [online]. 2012, vol.7, n.1, pp.7-30. ISSN 2448-7228.
This article demonstrates that "neoliberalism" bears hardly any relation at all to classical liberalism, which defends moral and civic values in the face of religion. "Neoliberalism" has precedents in utilitarianism. In the United States, its source is marginalism; its precursors can be found in Prussia; and its followers, of Austrian extraction, in U.S. authors. Neoliberalism, in the fght against collectivism, went as far as to negate all social questions and the conversion of politics into a market. That vacuum is filled by the sanctification of calculations and a tyranny of the majority that dissolves per sonal judgment.
Keywords : liberalism; neoliberalism; marginalism; calculation; religion.
